Athletes of the week

Laurie Girdwood is this week’s Dalhousie University female athlete of the week. The 6’4” forward on the Dalhousie women’s basketball team demonstrated strong play over the weekend and helped the Tigers capture two wins. On Saturday, Dal defeated SMU, with Ms. Girdwood leading the Tigers in scoring with 23 points. She lead Tigers scoring again on Sunday in a win over CBU, she also pulled down 11 boards during this game to secure a double double. Ms. Girdwood is a third-year recreation management student from Dundas, Ont.

Andrew Sullivan is this week’s Dalhousie University male athlete of the week. On Sunday, the six-foot guard and team captain on the men’s basketball team scored 20 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and dished out five assists to lead the Tigers to an upset win over CBU. Sullivan is a third-year engineering student from Riverview, N.B.
