Josie McKinney of Harvey, New Brunswick, is graduating with her Law degree.  Of Mi'kmaq and Maliseet heritage, Josie will follow her dream of practising law within the Aboriginal community. She was inspired to go into Law in part by her cousin, Candy Palmeter - also a Dalhousie Law graduate. "Candy was a role model for me; a strong, Aboriginal woman who has achieved success and given back to her community." Role models are important, says Josie, who feels Aboriginal people have an important role to play in the legal profession. "Aboriginal people should feel encouraged that they can go into law and achieve success. The contributions that they can make to this field are very necessary." Josie was president of the Dalhousie Aboriginal Law Students' Association, and competed in the National Gale Cup Moot competition.
