Ryan McKay is this weekÕs Dalhousie University Female Athlete of the Week. McKay led the Tigers to a 1-1 showing at the 2006 AUS womenÕs basketball championship this past weekend. On Friday night, the number-four-ranked Tigers faced fifth seed Memorial in quarter-final action. McKay scored a game-high 21 points to lead the Tigers to a 65-48 victory. In a tough semifinal match on Saturday, the Tigers faced top seeded Cape Breton and despite a great 18-point and game-high effort by McKay, Dalhousie conceded a 51-61 loss to the eventual champions to mark the end of their season. McKay is a fourth-year Kinesiology student from Fredericton, NB.

Niklas Rademacher is this weekÕs Dalhousie University Male Athlete of the Week. Rademacher led the Tigers to a 2-1 showing at the 2006 CIS menÕs volleyball championship this past weekend. On Friday night, the fifth-ranked Tigers faced the number four rank, Saskatchewan, in quarter-final action. Dalhousie won an impressive straight sets victory where Rademacher led with 15 kills and five digs to advance to the semifinal round. In SaturdayÕs semi, the Tigers were up against top-seeded Alberta and their gold medal hopes were stolen by the Golden Bears as Dal lost 3 sets to 1. Rademacher contributed 17 kills. Dropping down to the bronze medal game, the TigersÕ efforts just werenÕt enough as they conceded another 3-1 loss, this time to third-ranked Manitoba. Rademacher had his best game of the tourney in the bronze medal game and came up with 19 kills. He was also recognized by CIS as a first team all-Canadian for a second time. Rademacher is a second-year Management student from Bocholt, Germany.
