Killam hosts poetry reading

- March 7, 2005

The Canadian Literary Collections Project (CLCP) Public Reading Series will be proudly featuring Jason Holt in a poetry reading at the Killam Library this March. Jason currently teaches philosophy at Dalhousie University, specializing in philosophy of mind and aesthetics.

Jason is the author of three poetry books: Feeling Fine in Kafka's Burrow (1994), Memos to No One (1999), and A Hair's Breadth of Abandon (2003); two novels, Fragment of a Blues (2001) and The Black Books Addiction (2003); and the philosophical work Blindsight and the Nature of Consciousness (2003). He has published numerous articles, both scholarly and popular, on a variety of philosophical topics, including the definition of art, the nature of consciousness, theories of truth, and literary interpretation.

Jason will read poems from his most recent collection A Hair's Breadth of Abandon, and will also treat his audience to a sneak preview of his work-in-progress, tentatively titled Relics For an Open Vault. Poet Astrid Brunner, who published Jason's three poetry books (AB collector publishing), will introduce the reading, and there will be a casual reception with light refreshments afterwards.

This event takes place on Wednesday, March 9th, at 7:30 p.m., in the Special Collections Reading Room, 5th floor, Killam Library. It is free of charge and open to the public. Please call 494-3615 for more information.
