Swimmers make a splash at AUS championships

Kiera Aitken is this week's Dalhousie University Female Athlete of the Week. Aitken made a big splash at the Dalplex pool winning all four of the individual events she entered at the 2005 Atlantic University Sport Swimming championships. She took top honours in the 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke as well as the 50m freestyle leading the Tigers to a team total of 285 points and the AUS banner. Aitken was also a member of two first-place Dalhousie relay teams; the 400m and 800m freestyle relays. Her standout performance earned her 2005 Female Swimmer of the Meet honours. Aitken is a fourth-year Computer Science student from Devonshire, Bermuda.

Matt Terauds is this week's Dalhousie University Male Athlete of the Week. Terauds was the outstanding male athlete for Dalhousie at the Atlantic University Sport championships, recording two individual and two relay wins paired with two individual and one relay second-place finishes leading the Tigers to a team total of 269 points and the AUS banner. He claimed top spot in the 100m backstroke and the 50m butterfly as well as being a member of the winning 400m medley and 800m freestyle relays. He also captured second place finishes in the 50m and 200m backstroke and the 400m freestyle relay. Terauds is a fourth-year Mechanical Engineering student from Middleton, NS.
