National student initiative for tsunami victims

- January 31, 2005

Students from across Canada have joined together to support several international agencies currently assisting tsunami victims of Africa and South East Asia in an effort to further reconstruction and development.

Students will be able to invite family and friends to make donations through a web site: . The designated agencies are: CARE Canada, Oxfam Canada and the UN World Food Programme. “Our goal” says Rosalie Hanlon, Campaign Co-Chair, “is to raise $1 million in support of these agencies dedicated to reconstruction and development in the tsunami-affected regions. We are confident this campaign will bring students together to help rebuild the future of our world.” The campaign is a coordinated effort by several student organizations. Members include the Canadian Alliance of Student Association, Canadian Federation of Engineering Students, Meal Exchange and The Student Volunteer Program.
