Commerce students support tsunami relief

- January 31, 2005

The Commerce Society set up an innovative play to raise funds for tsunami relief at a recent Mooseheads game.

Students turned out at the Halifax Metro Centre to sell tickets during a regularly scheduled Mooseheads hockey game. As a result, the Dalhousie Commerce Society will be able to donate $103 to the Canadian Red Cross. That's a dollar for every ticket sold.

Key volunteers included commerce co-op students Heather Humphreys and Chris MacIsaac, who suggested the idea in response to the devastation to South Asia.

In turn, the Mooseheads graciously agreed to make a contribution, recognizing that it was a worthwhile cause to be associated with. Friday night was a success, and the Dalhousie Commerce Society would like to thank all who came out and cheered for their team, thereby also supporting the cause.
