First Year Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics offers many different first year mathematics courses. To help you determine which course is right for you, we have created a Brightspace "course" with relevant information. Among others, it contains an information sheet about the different courses and the Math Self-Assessment, which allows you to check how ready you are for first year math.

How to Register

You will need to set up your NetID and password to register for the First Year Math course. If you are a new student, your NetID is provided in your letter of acceptance.

To begin: Login to Brightspace (https://dal.brightspace.com) and then
CLICK TO REGISTER FOR THE COURSE Instructions on how to take the self-assessment and how to find information on first year courses will be on the front page.

If you stop the assessment before you have finished it, you may go back to the course by logging into Brightspace and selecting the First Year Math Course.

If you have any questions or concerns about 1000 level Calculus courses, please contact Dr. Chisholm at sarahchisholm@dal.ca.
