Dr. Carolyn Mitchell is a Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner with extensive nursing experience spanning more than three decades. She has worked as a Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner in a number of Nova Scotia communities over the past 10 + years.  Prior to her advanced practice role, she worked as a registered nurse in Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and New York. Her nursing background is varied and includes experience in Neonatal Intensive Care, Coronary Care, Pediatric Emergency, Poison Prevention and Home Care for Ventilator and Tracheostomy Dependent Children. She is currently licensed in Nova Scotia and New York.

Dr. Mitchell has a special interest in the implementation of Collaborative Practice and providing primary care for complex care patients and vulnerable populations. She is a strong advocate for the role of Nurse Practitioners in meeting the health care needs of individuals, families and communities. She has served as Treasurer, Co-Chair and Past Co-Chair of the Nurse Practitioner Association of Nova Scotia.
