SOSA's Professor Afua Cooper, Killam Fellow and former JRJ Chair, nominated David Woods for an Honorary Doctorate which was awarded yesterday at the fall convocation. David Woods served as program director for the Black United Front and the Black Cultural Centre for Nova Scotia and is also a founder of several cultural awareness groups in Nova Scotia. He also played a significant role in including the artistic contributions of Black maritime peoples and communities in Canadian Art. Dr. Wood's speech was very uplifting to those in attendance. Congratulations Dr. Woods!
