Morocco Study Abroad Program

Study French in Morocco

In order to encourage Dalhousie students to learn French while broadening their knowledge of another culture, the French Department at Dalhousie has established an exchange program with Ibn Zohr University (Taroudant, Morocco).

About the Program

This study abroad opportunity will allow Dalhousie undergraduate students to undertake a part of their studies (up to a year) in Morocco. One of the languages of instruction in Moroccan universities being French, participating students will be able to enrol in classes in a wide range of disciplines (Finance, Management, Humanities, etc.) in addition to language and grammar courses. Their acquisition of the French language will thus be strengthened by the multiple learning contexts and fields of study to which they will be exposed.

Taking part in this program will also enable participating students to advance their academic studies while developing a greater understanding of themselves and the global village we live in. During their time in Morocco, Dalhousie students will have the opportunity to live a unique experience as they encounter a rich cultural heritage while discovering the country’s varied geography.

Although the exchange protocol is between the Department of French at Dalhousie and the Polydisciplinary Faculty of Taroudant, the agreement gives participating students access to all Ibn Zohr University’s campuses (Agadir, Laayoun, Ouarzazate, Errachidia, etc,) which are spread over the southern part of Morocco. This region enjoys a wide variety of geographical landscapes, ranging from the snowy Atlas Mountains, to the endless sandy beaches along the Atlantic Ocean, to the golden dunes of the Sahara Desert.

How to Apply

Please note that all outbound exchange programs for Fall 2021 are currently suspended due to the ongoing pandemic.
