There will be an extended planned domestic hot water outage that affects all of the Agricultural Campus in 2017. Rather than the normal two weeks, the outage will be for two months in the summer of 2017. Exact dates are not yet known, but the hot water will be unavailable due to continued conversion of the campus heat distribution system from steam to hot water lines. It is expected this will take place during most of July and August.
Many buildings on campus will be unaffected as they have their own electrically based domestic hot water tanks, but we realize there may be inconvenience and disruption beyond the normal outage each year to some essential campus services during this time.
Please share this information as necessary with all key contacts and stakeholders in your building. There will be more communication about the preparations needed for this shutdown in the months to come.
Re-routing water from other buildings, or temporary hot water tanks may be available on a case-by-case basis.
