Due to the retirement of the incumbent, the Nova Scotia Institute of Agrologists is seeking an Executive Director to support its operations.
The Nova Scotia Institute of Agrologists, with an office based in Bible Hill, maintains an active membership of more than 300 professional agrologists. The Nova Scotia Institute of Agrologists is a regulatory body for the Agrologists Act. Agrologists are currently referred to as university graduates who advise, teach, investigate or publicize the sound principles and practices of agriculture. As Executive Director you will be responsible for providing support and leadership to the Executive and Council of the Institute for all the activities of NSIA.
Duties include:
- Maintaining active relations with government, agri-business, affiliated associations and the public.
- Keeping accurate minutes of council, executive and annual meetings, handling financial records, budgets and other managerial duties.
- Organizing information meetings and events, annual and semi-annual meetings, and executive and committee meetings.
- Reviewing applications for membership to provide recommendations to Council.
- Supporting committee work related to work of the institute.
- Updating and maintaining the NSIA website.
The successful candidate should hold a Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, management, or a related field, have agricultural knowledge and experience, and possess excellent communication and organizational skills. Expected start date will be October 2013. This is a 40% (2 day per week) position with 600 expected annual hours.
