Accommodation

Two blocks of guest rooms have been reserved at hotels in Halifax and Charlottetown for the symposium. Please note that from August 24 to 26, the conference will be based in Halifax.  The field tour will occur on August 27, and the symposium will relocate to Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island for the remainder of the symposium (August 27 to 29). Therefore, accommodation arrangements in both Halifax and Charlottetown are required if you are planning on attending all of the symposium.  The symposium is occurring during the tourist season so please make your accommodation arrangements as soon as possible.

The guest rooms and group rates negotiated with the hotels includes significant meeting room facilities required for the symposium.  If a sufficient number of guest rooms are not occupied by symposium participants, the organizers will incur additional costs for meeting room rental and unused accommodation room charges.  Therefore, we encourage all symposium participants to stay in the host hotels.

Participants NOT staying in the block of rooms set aside for the symposium at the Lord Nelson and Delta Prince Edward Island hotel will be charged a $75 per day facilities usage fee to cover their portion of meeting room rental charges incurred.  This amounts to a minimum of 2 nights of accommodation in Halifax, and 3 nights accommodation in Charlottetown, respectively.

Reservations must be made by May 10, 2024, to receive the reduced group rate on available rooms. Please be aware the block of rooms may fill before the deadline, so make your reservation as soon as possible.  After May 10, 2024, the discounted rate will not be guaranteed on remaining rooms.
