If you would like to apply to Dalhousie, but do not meet our general entrance requirements there are a number of pathways to enrolment at Dalhousie.
University Prep: Dalhousie College of Continuing Education
Designed in consultation with Dalhousie faculty members, University Prep courses are specifically built to prepare you with the skills and confidence you need to be successful in a wide range of studies. Offered on Dalhousie's Studley campus in Halifax, NS, you’re welcomed into the university community and will begin to develop relationships that will last throughout your degree and beyond. With flexible part-time schedules, you can customize a learning plan that works specifically for you. If you can’t be on campus, some online options are available.
Faculty of Agriculture (Extended Learning)
Offered online by Dalhousie’s Faculty of Agriculture in Truro, NS, Extended Learning upgrading courses in physics, chemistry and pre-calculus can be used toward enrolment on Halifax and Truro campuses.
Transition Year Program
If you are an applicant who self-identifies as Black or Aboriginal you may be eligible for the Transition Year Program (TYP), a pathway to undergraduate study at Dalhousie which offers financial support and a living allowance.
Indigenous Student Access Pathway
The Indigenous Student Access Pathway is a one-year program for First Nations, Métis and Inuit students who would not otherwise be eligible for admissions under Dalhousie’s current minimum high school prerequisites. This pathway offers dedicated support while transitioning to a university environment.

Open University Advanced Pre-University Math 0120: equivalent to Pre-Calculus 12
Nova Scotia Community College
Courses equivalent to English 12: COMM 1041 or COMM 1100 or COMM 1000 or COMM 1001 or COMM 1205 & 2215 together (both courses must have final grades that meet Dalhousie’s admission requirements) or COMM 1227 & 1228 together (both courses must have final grades that meet Dalhousie’s admission requirements).
Courses equivalent to Academic Math 12: MATH 1046 & 1047 together (both courses must have final grades that meet Dalhousie’s admission requirements).
Courses equivalent to Pre-Calculus Math 12: MATH 1050, or MATH 1013 & 1023 together (both portions must have final grades that meet Dalhousie’s admission requirements).
Courses equivalent to Physics 12: PHYS 1046 or PHYS 1047
Courses equivalent to Chemistry 12: CHEM 1046 or CHEM 1050
Courses equivalent to Biology 12: BIOL 1046 or BIOL 1050

Writing Skills: equivalent to English 12
Pre-Calculus Math I & II: Together are equivalent to Pre-Calculus 12. Both portions must have final grades that meet Dalhousie’s program requirements
Online Biology 12: equivalent to Biology 12
Chemistry 12: equivalent to Chemistry 12
Physics Part I & II: Physics I is equivalent to Physics 11 and Physics II is equivalent to Physics 12
Pre-University Math is not consider to be equivalent to Academic Math 12
