Solar cells have the potential to make a large contribution to solving the problem of climate change. Currently used solar cells suffer high cost per extracted amount of power mainly due to high production cost and low efficiency. This-film solar cells are deposited on cheap substrates and their structuring can significantly increase light absorption. Design of new solar cells based on plasmonics can thus results in improved absorption of photovoltaic devices that, in turn, allow for the reduction of the physical thickness and cost.
