Dal’s integrated messaging service updates our community in the case of significant campus closures (severe weather, major power outages), campus hazards (spills, fire, accidents), or other unpredictable events affecting large groups. It uses a variety of messaging — email, web, text messaging — to reach a broad cross section of our community in a timely fashion.

We’ll be testing the system this Thursday, Oct. 25 at around 10 a.m.

Only those who have subscribed to Dal Alert with their cell phone number are able to receive text message alerts, and all employees and students are encouraged to do so. Are you signed up? It's easy – just visit dalalert.dal.ca and follow the instructions. It's the quickest way to get the most important information in the event of the situations described above.

Dal Alert is available now for faculty and staff at the Agricultural Campus. Students at the Agricultural Campus will be integrated into the Dal Alert system in Spring 2013, once their data is moved into the Dal's Banner identification system.

I don't understand, the first line states it is available for the agricultural campus but the second and third line state that the agricultural campus will not be integrated until next year.
Hi fgj, the description distinguishes between faculty and staff, and students. Dal Alert is integrated with the university's identification system (Banner), which is used for registering employees and students in Dal's databases. While employees at the Agricultural Campus have been integrated with Banner, students won't be moved over until early in the new year. At that point, Dal Alert will be available to everyone at the Agricultural Campus.
I signed up on Wednesday but never received any text!
When I first signed up two years ago, I was told that I could only sign up 1 phone number. Has this changed? I would like to sign up for this service on my work and personal phone numbers because if there is an incident that needs to be brought to our attention, it would be nice to have it sent to both numbers. Thanks.
