Interdisciplinary PhD

The School of Planning does not currently offer a post-graduate (PhD) degree, but Dalhousie University does offer the opportunity to explore planning themes through post-graduate research.

The Faculty of Graduate Studies administers the Interdisciplinary PhD (IDPhD) directly with the support of the IDPhD staff. For more information, visit the IDPhD program website.

Each IDPhD student builds their own interdisciplinary program of study under the direction of a program committee comprising the thesis supervisor and advisors, including courses, comprehensive exams, doctoral research, and dissertation. Students interested in post-graduate research in planning can connect directly with the faculty member working on that research topic to discuss the opportunity.
