Campus flags are lowered today (Feb. 12) from sunrise to sundown in honour of Dalhousie and King's student Alexandria (Alex) Wortman.
From a campus-wide memo shared on Jan. 3, 2025:
It is with great sadness that Dalhousie University and the University of King’s College are sharing the news of the passing of one of our students, Alexandria (Alex) Wortman.
Alex was a student in Dalhousie’s Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and began her studies in 2021-2022 at King’s, in Journalism and the Foundation Year Program. Alex died in the tragic automobile collision that took place near campus on Monday, January 27, 2025.
Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Alex’s family and friends at this difficult time. A celebration of life will be held on February 22 in Riverview, New Brunswick, and Alex’s family have indicated that her friends are welcome to join. Our flags will be lowered to half-mast on February 12, on Alex’s birthday, in honour of Alex’s membership in and contribution to our communities.
