One‑Minute Meeting with Sarah Peddle

Posted by Communications, Marketing and Creative Services on November 16, 2021 in Community Highlights

Three questions, each answered in 150 words or less. One-Minute Meeting is a quick and easy way to get to know more about your colleagues, new and old. Learn how you can nominate someone at the bottom of this post and read more about the series on Dal News.

Today's meeting is with Sarah Peddle, Program Manager for Service Learning in the Office of Community Partnerships and Global Health in Dal's Faculty of Medicine.

What’s your favourite thing about working at Dal?

The people and the institution's investment in the people who study, work, and volunteer here. I have been lucky to work in three very diverse and inclusive departments within the Faculty of Medicine in my 15+ years here at Dalhousie. I began at Community Health & Epidemiology, spent some time with Family Medicine and have been with the Office of Community Partnerships and Global Health for the past six years.

What’s the most surprising thing we might see on your resume/cv?

For those who don’t know me well it would likely be that I am experienced dancer in Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba, Merengue, Cha Cha, and West Coast Swing. I have been part of a couple performance dance teams and even performed at the Dal Dance recital a couple of times ….. in my 40s!!! I have also taught some salsa and bachata in the city and most recently competed in West Coast Swing and won my first competition.

What’s the strangest job experience you’ve ever had?

Well… If you have been to any events hosted by my office, odds are you have met me…you just may not have realized it! I have been known to adorn the Dalhousie Tiger costume from time to time. I suppose I should add, “experienced mascot” to my CV! Thanks for the reminder and a special thanks to my nominator.

Right, Sarah poses as the Dal Tiger with Faculty of Medicine Dean David Anderson at an event.
