Part-Time Employment Opportunity: Teaching Assistant in the Early Modern Studies Program

The Early Modern Studies Program at the University of King's College invites applications for one Teaching Assistant position for "Love, Lust, and Desire in Italian Renaissance Art" (EMSP 3280) in the Fall 2020 Term. The course examines the ways in which the artists, poets, theologians, and philosophers of this period struggled to define, and to represent, the complexities of love in all its facets. The course is cross-listed with the Gender and Women's Studies Program at Dalhousie University.

Duties include but are not limited to:

Reading course material and gaining familiarity with works of art.
Watching all video lectures and other online content.
Grading assignments.
Holding virtual office hours and ensuring an online presence to assist students with assignments.
Moderating online discussion boards.
Consulting regularly with the instructor regarding the approach taken in teaching, grading and other expectations.
Qualifications and Experience:

Candidates may come from various backgrounds, but should have at least an undergraduate degree of at least one year's standing. Graduates with an advanced background in art history, Italian studies, or cultural studies are preferred.

Hourly Rate of Pay: $24.41 (classification of TA130). The position is conditional on the course's final enrollment numbers

The Contemporary Studies Program (CTMP) at the University of King's College invites applications for a Teaching Assistant to handle duties in CTMP3001, "Science and Culture" (cross-listed with HSTC3031). CTMP3001 is one of the three core classes for the Contemporary Studies Program and examines contemporary issues in the history, philosophy, social studies of science and technology.  There is a possibility of continuing the TA-ship into the Winter term with CTMP3002 (HSTC3032).

Duties include but not limited to:

• reading course material 
• reviewing and participating in online instruction
• supervising student seminars/projects
• holding online office hours and ensuring an online presence to assist students with assignments 
• consulting on a regular basis with the instructor regarding the approach taken in teaching, grading and other expectations
• and the possibility of grading term papers
  

Qualifications and Experience:

Candidates may come from various fields but should have at least an undergraduate degree. Familiarity with the history, philosophy and/or sociology of science, or cognate fields, is a strong asset.  This class will be offered online, so familiarity with the Brightspace programs and online teaching will be considered a strong asset.
