Two Dalhousie Libraries spaces available for use by appointment

Posted by Libraries on July 7, 2020 in General Announcements

Due to numerous requests, we are pleased to be opening the Wallace McCain Learning Commons and the Kellogg Library Learning Commons in the Collaborative Health Education Building for limited but safe access to Dal Libraries spaces. Along with Curbside Pickup, this is the first phase of a gradual reopening plan for the Dal Libraries.

The two learning commons will be open by appointment for three-hour timeslots for current Dalhousie faculty, instructors, students, and staff. The timeslots are 9 a.m.‒12 p.m. and 1‒4 p.m., Monday‒Friday.

A study room (for use by one person at a time) or a computer can be booked. Bookings should be made a minimum of 24-hours in advance by contacting library@dal.ca. Bookings can be made up to a week in advance.

When making a booking, please indicate:
1. your location preference (Wallace McCain LC or Kellogg Library LC)
2. requested date and time
3. if you want to book a study room or a computer

You will receive an email when your booking is confirmed.

You must bring your DalCard to gain entry to the space. The wearing of non-medical cloth masks is encouraged. Furniture in the spaces has been adjusted to encourage social distancing. Library staff will perform some cleaning between timeslots.

If you are seeking access to the Dal Libraries’ circulating collections, you can request materials through our Curbside Pickup service. Many virtual resources and services (such as LiveHelp) are available via libraries.dal.ca.

We look forward to serving you in our spaces again!
