Study recruitment notice

Posted by Faculty of Computer Science on December 16, 2019 in General Announcements

We are recruiting participants to take part in a research study that evaluates a gamified mobile app, called TreeCare, that promotes physical activity. We are looking for participants who are 18 years or older and sit for a long time (at least 1 hour) or rarely engage in consistent physical activity (such as walking or running). You can also participate if you are an adult (i.e., 18 years or older) who exercises frequently but sits for long periods. Please note that you are not eligible if you are unable to exercise due to health constraints. Also, each participant should have an Android smartphone.

The study will involve two sessions and will be conducted on the 4th floor of the Mona Campbell building, Dalhousie University, and each session will take at most 30 minutes. In the first session, you will meet with the lead researcher who will describe the study and ask you to sign a consent form to participate in the study. Afterwards, the researcher will install the TreeCare app on your Android device, and will also show you how to use the app. You will be required to use the app for at least 2 weeks. In the second session, after the app usage period, you will meet the researcher again for an interview which will be recorded (audio only) and will be shown how to uninstall the app from your phone. Compensation is $10 for participating in the study.

If you are interested in participating, please contact me: oladapo.oyebode@dal.ca .
