POSITION:  Part-time Academic

DEPARTMENT/LOCATION:  School for Resource and Environmental Studies (SRES)

RATE OF PAY: According to the CUPE Agreement  

WORK ASSIGNMENT:  The sessional instructor will teach MGMT 2702 – Resource and Environmental Management, a required course taken by all second year Bachelor of Management students, during the 2018/19 winter term.  The course is offered to approximately 150 students and is delivered through weekly 80-minute lectures (scheduled Tuesdays from 11:35 to 14:55) and via tutorials scheduled throughout the week. Lectures are to be delivered by the course instructor while tutorials are led by up to three (3) teaching assistants (TA) whose efforts are coordinated by a head TA but substantively overseen by the course instructor.

The Calendar entry is as follows: “This course provides an overview of principles and techniques embedded in the sustainable management of our resource sector operations, highlighting the relevance of sustainability within today's business and government leadership decision making processes. The course provides a framework for examining the issues involved in the extraction, manufacture, use and disposal of resources (materials, energy and products), and discusses the various drivers for managers to integrate sustainability into the operations of such systems.”

REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION:  PhD and/or Masters with equivalent experience in related discipline. Strong understanding of -- and experience with – natural resource management and environmental protection, ideally through applied or research work. Prior experience in undergraduate teaching is a strong asset.
