Researchers at the Canadian Center for Vaccinology located in the IWK are looking for healthy adults aged 18+ to participate in our Hepatitis B vaccine study. We are looking for volunteers who have not previously received the Hepatitis B vaccine.
Hepatitis B virus (HBV) can cause inflammation of the liver and chronic liver disease known as “cirrhosis”. In Canada, vaccination against HBV has been recommended in children since the 1990s. Protection against HBV is thought to last for decades, and most new cases of HBV infection occur in adults who did not receive the vaccine. This study vaccine is thought to be more effective in older people, especially those with health problems such as diabetes and obesity.
If you are interested in hearing more about the study, please contact our Research nurse Coordinator, Catherine Brown, or visit our study page here: http://centerforvaccinology.ca/study/hepatitis-b-study/
