Published February 23 by the Chronicle Herald:
It’s not news that world-class research is done in Nova Scotia. Yet it’s always gratifying to see that excellence recognized.
Last week, for the second year running — and the second time ever — arguably Canada’s most prestigious science honour was bestowed on a professor at Halifax’s Dalhousie University.
The Gerhard Herzberg Canada Gold Medal for Science and Engineering, which comes with $1 million in funding, is awarded annually by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Reseach Council (NSERC) of Canada.
The award honours Canadian researchers who are recognized internationally for demonstrating “sustained excellence and influence” in their fields.
