Office 365 ‑ Looking ahead to Outlook Mail

Posted by Information Technology Services on April 4, 2013 in General Announcements

As part of the Office 365 roll out, Dalhousie's email accounts will be moving to Outlook Mail. Your dal.ca address won't change, but the system to support it will be, bringing with it a number of service improvements:

  • Use business-class email through a rich and familiar Outlook experience you can access from your desktop or from a web browser using Outlook Web App. Mac users will also be able to access their email through Apple Mail.
  • A 25 GB mailbox and the ability to send attachments up to 25 MB.
  • Virtually anywhere access: connect with your email and calendars from your PC, Mac, web browser, Windows Phone, iPhone, Android phone, Symbian phone, and BlackBerry.
  • Built-in enterprise-grade anti-malware protection and anti-spam filtering.

A reminder that rollout plan for Office 365 is presently being finalized. The first priority will be to transition Dal's email accounts to Office 365, with the goal of having all Dal accounts on the platform by fall. We will be starting with employees in ITS later this Spring, who will learn the system first, before we expand to other faculty and staff and, finally, students.
