Dalhousie faculty members present at the 23rd International Conference on Aquatic Invasive Species May 9, 2024 (Halifax, N.S.) – This year’s International Conference on Aquatic Invasive Species (May 12-16) which has over 330 registrants from more than 30 countries, will be co-hosted by Dr. Sarah Stewart-Clark, Associate Professor in Dalhousie’s Faculty of Agriculture. During the conference several Dalhousie faculty members will present their research as it pertains to aquatic invasive species. Dalhousie presenters include: Dr. Fraser Clark, Associate Professor in Dalhousie’s Faculty of Agriculture, will present his research on the risk of disease transfer when using invasive green crabs as bait in the lobster fishery. Dr. Stewart-Clark, will discuss her research on how hurricanes impact coastal ecosystems and spread invasive species. This can be seen during the recovery and coastal protection process in recent extreme weather events like Hurricane Fiona. Dr. Suresh Neethirajam, Associate Professor & Dalhousie University Research Chair, in Dalhousie’s Faculty of Computer Science, will be giving a keynote address on the use of AI in aquatic invasive species management.
