A lift home after a night out?

- February 19, 2009

What do you think of the idea of a free shuttle that would take students home in the wee hours?

On Tuesday, the Board of Police Commissioners presented council with 64 recommendations in response to the Mayor’s Roundtable on Violence. Among the recommendations was the creation of a public safety office and an after-hours shuttle bus for students.

An editorial in The Chronicle Herald has come out against the idea, saying "there is no way the public should pay for a free shuttle that would take drunken students home after a night of revelry in downtown Halifax."

What do you think? Would a shuttle bus make you feel safer in downtown Halifax? Should it be free?
