Highway tragedy

- December 17, 2008

The Dalhousie community was saddened to learn of the passing of one of our students. Young Kwan Eum was killed in a car accident late Sunday afternoon on Highway 103 near Hubbards. The 24-year-old from North York, Ont. was a third-year student in Math and Statistics. He will be missed terribly by all who knew him.

The university’s flag has been lowered to half mast and both the counseling centre and the multi-faith centre are available to provide support those who knew and loved Young.

A Facebook group has been set up by Mr. Eum's friends where people can leave messages of condolence.

Jae Hee Kim, 23, from Korea also died in the crash. Services for Ms. Kim and Mr. Eum will be shared, with wakes scheduled on Thursday, Dec. 18, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The funeral service is set for Friday, Dec. 19, 11 a.m. at J.A. Snow Funeral Home on Windsor Street.
