Right to the art of the issue

Under fire for his government's cuts to arts and cultural funding, Prime Minister Stephen Harper said "ordinary Canadians" have no sympathy for "rich" artists who gather at galas to whine about their grants. When criticized by the other party leaders, the Conservative leader classified them as elitists preoccupied by "a niche issue."

Is arts and culture a niche issue? Will the parties' cultural policies have any effect on the way you vote in the October 14 federal election?
