- May 28, 2007

Dalhousie University and the union representing part-time academics have reached a tentative agreement after talks with a conciliator.

CUPE Local 3912, representing about 1,100 part-time academics, instructors, teaching assistants, markers and demonstrators, has scheduled a ratification vote on campus with its members June 6.

The agreement must also go before DalhousieÕs Board of Governors at its meeting on June 19.

ÒBoth sides worked very hard and weÕre very happy with the result,” said Donna Gillis, Director, Academic, Staff Relations.

CUPE 3912 also represents workers at Saint MaryÕs University and Mount Saint Vincent University. While the union has settled with Saint MaryÕs, talks are still ongoing at Mount Saint Vincent University.
