Dalhousie athletes dominate AUS championships

The following students are Dal's Athletes of the Week (for the week ending Feb.11):

Ashley Aitken had a terrific weekend competing in the AUS Championship which was held at Dalhousie on the weekend. Aitken, a fourth-year kinesiology student from Bermuda, dominated three events en route to becoming the AUS Champion in the 50-metre breaststroke, 50-metre butterfly and 50-metre freestyle. As a result, Aitken was named the Female
Athlete of the Meet. Her performance also help the Tigers win the AUS team championship.

Doug Young, a fourth-year sociology student from Grand Lake, N.S., also had a superb weekend in the pool, winning three events at the AUS Championships. He won gold in the 50-metre and 100-metre breaststroke, and the 200IM. Doug's performance earned him Male Athlete of the Meet and led the Tigers to the AUS team championship.

Other nominees: Germain Bendegue (basketball), John Corbit (track and field), Dan Murray (volleyball).
