Jim Balsillie took time out from an undoubtedly busy day to speak to over 300 members of the Dalhousie community last week. The Chairman and Co-CEO of Research in Motion (the maker of the BlackBerry), gave a talk to students and faculty from Management, Engineering and Computer Science in the Potter Family Auditorium of the Faculty of Management Building on April 20.

In town for RIM's first day of operations in Halifax, Balsillie expressed a special interest in taking time out to talk to students. His remarks at Dalhousie focused on the company's plans to become a major employer in our community, and the need to concentrate businesses' efforts and attention on customers and employees.

Research in Motion plans to hire 1,250 people with an average salary of between $45,000 to $48,000.
