The Coast - Best of Halifax

Coast readers know what they like, and they like Dalhousie.

We topped the list in several categories of The Coast«s popular "Best of Halifax" issue for 2005, earning the title of Best University in the region. Our thanks to the readers of the paper, who tend to be younger, university-age Nova Scotians and who would "know the subject better"

Coast readers also recognize talented faculty. Duncan MacIntosh (Philosophy) was voted Best Professor, and Frank Palermo (School of Planning) was named first runner up. Award-winning athlete Adrienne Power was named Best Female Athlete.

Hats off to the Faculty of Management folks who can enjoy their day nestled in their new offices knowing that the Kenneth C. Rowe Faculty of Management Building was among the best new construction on the peninsula. The Rowe Building was named first runner up in the Best New Building category.

Finally, we also fared well in "Best Place to Steal Wireless Internet", and while we certainly don«t advocate stealing anything, much less Internet access (remember, stealing = bad, kids!), it«s nice that Coast readers at least recognize Dalhousie as the best wi-fi hotspot in the city.

Everyone at Dal should give themselves a nice congratulatory nod.
