Macroeconomics and Economic Development Unit (MED)

The Macroeconomics and Economic Development (MED) unit is a group of scholars, MA and PhD students working collaboratively in the Department of Economics at Dalhousie University.

The aims of MED are:

  • To support research on macroeconomics and macroeconomic policy both nationally and internationally
  • To support research on economic development and development policy both nationally and internationally.

Current projects pursued by MED include, but are not limited to, beliefs and learning in macroeconomic models, macroeconomic consequences of schooling decisions, structural change within a historical context, and macroeconomic consequences of incomplete insurance markets. One of the objectives of the group is to expand the methodological paradigm in macroeconomic analysis by exploring non-traditional approaches and sources of evidence.
