2021 Recipient - Sadie Jacobs-Peters
This year’s awardee is Sadie Jacobs-Peters in recognition of her high academic record and significant work experience in Arctic Geology. Sadie is currently a fourth-year undergraduate student, majoring in Earth Sciences and pursuing her Professional Geoscientist License. During the 2020-2021 online school year, she worked at the northernmost mine in Canada, Baffinland Iron Mines, as an Environmental Technician. During her time in Nunavut, she sampled soils and permafrost, mitigated the spring freshet sediment release, and collected water samples from glacial cut tributaries. She plans to return to the Canadian Arctic and continue to explore and understand the vast landscape.
