Our History

70 years of building nursing knowledge

Dalhousie University has been a regional resource for the education of nurses for more than 70 years.

Prior to the formal establishment of the School of Nursing and the baccalaureate program in 1949, Dalhousie offered post-graduate diplomas in specialities such as public health, education and administration to meet the demand for nursing leadership in clinical settings, in public health and nursing schools throughout Atlantic Canada.
