On October 10, 2024, students gathered at the Dalhousie International Center to celebrate "Latin American Heritage Month." Faculty from the Spanish and Latin American Studies department presented an engaging Peruvian documentary, promoting cultural awareness and appreciation among attendees.
The Healing Land shows the cultivation and uses of various traditional domesticated crops in pre-Columbian Peru and introduces the people involved in these ancient activities. Taking the viewer through this country's culturally and biologically diverse regions, the film highlights the remarkable health benefits and nutritional value of products that are often unknown or overlooked. The Healing Earth will show you why it is essential to preserve these crops and increase their use in the diets of people around the world.
