JSmith

Following a career in marine conservation and roles in politics, government and labour, I returned to university in 2015 to pursue a longstanding interest in democratic development. My MA thesis, supported by an inaugural Canada Graduate Scholarship to Honour Nelson Mandela, examines the growing strength of civil society in post-Maidan Ukraine. In late 2016 I will resume my LLM in International Human Rights and Humanitarian Law at Europa Universität Viadrina, near Berlin (expected 2017).
