Radostina Zhekova

Psychology (Honours)

I am a fourth-year student who is majoring in Psychology with a certificate in Disability Management. Currently, I am completing an honours thesis under the supervision of Dr. Sean Barrett and Robin Perry (Ph.D. candidate). Specifically, my project aims to explore the drug effects of CBD on human participants. In the future, I hope to pursue a graduate degree related to healthcare and/or research. Outside of school, I like to keep busy with volunteering, gardening, and baking. Additionally, I like to stay active through long-distance running, yoga, and hiking.

Valeriya Burdeyny

Neuroscience (Honours)

I am a 5th-year undergraduate student, majoring in Neuroscience and completing a certificate in neurotech, innovation and entrepreneurship. I am currently completing my honours project under the supervision of Dr. Sean Barrett and Robin Perry (PhD candidate). My project is focused on examining neural responses to CBD (via fMRI) in relation to cognitive processes. Prior to starting my honours I completed a directed 3000 level project and worked as a research assistant at a different lab at Dalhousie. After completing my degree I hope to conduct more research at a Master's level related to mental health and addictions. Outside of school I enjoy promoting health, wellness and harm reduction. I also play in an orchestra and like bouldering.

Simal Dolek

Neuroscience (Directed-research)

I am a second-year student who is majoring in Neuroscience. Currently, I am completing a 3000-level directed project under the supervision of Dr. Sean Barrett and Aaron Shephard (Ph.D. candidate). My research project aims to evaluate the extent to which personality is related to dependence of different substance types. After completing my undergraduate degree, I hope to pursue a graduate degree related to data analytics and research. Outside of school, I like to work as an NFT artist on Etherium blockchain, learn different programming languages and play the piano. I am also a member of Dalhousie Black & Gold Dance Team where we compete at various dance competitions across Canada.

Kayley Dockrill

Medical Science (Directed-research)

I am a third-year undergraduate student in the Medical Science program at Dalhousie. I am currently completing an experiential learning class under the supervision of Dr. Sean Barrett. This semester I will be working on researching sex differences in CBD effects in human participants. In the future, I hope to pursue medicine and receive a master’s in psychology. Outside of school, I like to keep busy with work and gardening when the weather permits.

Amelie Tanner

Psychology (Directed-research)

I am a third-year undergraduate student majoring in psychology. I am currently completing a PSYO3001 directed research project under the supervision of Dr. Sean Barrett. My project aims to explore subjective and physiological responses to cannabidiol (CBD). In the future, I hope to pursue a graduate degree in clinical psychology. Outside of school, I write and produce music, with the hopes of eventually releasing an album.
