US Department of Justice will not bring federal charges against police officer for death of Eric Garner – It was announced yesterday by the US Department of Justice that federal charges will not be laid against a New York City police officer for the 2014 death of Eric Garner during his arrest for allegedly selling loose cigarettes. Dr. Isaac Saney is available to provide comment on the precedent this decision sets in the movement to end the involvement of police in the deaths of black people in the US.
