Students at Dalhousie University receive Canada’s largest Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) scholarship
– Universities announce their 2021 Schulich Leaders, winning $100,000 or $80,000 scholarships for undergraduate study –
Tuesday, June 29, 2021 (HALIFAX, N.S.) –– Six students have been named Dalhousie University recipients of the prestigious Schulich Leader Scholarship.
Out of a pool of 350,000 potential candidates across Canada, 1,400 students were nominated. Given the unprecedented challenges we are facing this year in Canada, an additional 50 scholarships are once again being awarded, for a total of 100.
The six students who will be attending Dalhousie were selected for their outstanding Academic and Extra-Curricular achievements, core requirements for the award. They are:
Ewan Glover, 18, is a recipient of the $100,000 Schulich Leader Scholarship. A graduate of Halifax West High School in Halifax, NS, Glover will be entering the Faculty of Engineering this fall.
Mary MacInnis, 17, is a recipient of the $100,000 Schulich Leader Scholarship. A graduate of Riverview High School in Sydney, NS, MacInnis will be entering the Faculty of Engineering this fall.
Sundaram Biswas, 18, is a recipient of the $100,000 Schulich Leader Scholarship. A graduate of Holy Heart of Mary High School in St. John’s, NL, Biswas will be entering the Faculty of Engineering this fall.
Alexander Petkov, 17, is a recipient of the $80,000 Schulich Leader Scholarship. A graduate of Horton High School in Wolfville, NS, Petkov will be entering the Faculty of Science this fall.
Nicole Jones, 18, is a recipient of the $80,000 Schulich Leader Scholarship. A graduate of Bernice MacNaughton High School in Moncton, NB, Jones will be entering the Faculty of Science this fall.
Mattie Leslie-Toogood, 18, is a recipient of the $80,000 Schulich Leader Scholarship. A graduate of Nelson McIntyre Collegiate in Winnipeg, MB, Too-good will be entering the Faculty of Science this fall.

This group of 100 outstanding students will represent the best and brightest Canada has to offer and will make great contributions to society, both on a national and global scale. With their university expenses covered, they can focus their time on their studies, research projects, extracurriculars, and entrepreneurial ventures.
