Valentina Ceballos, an honours student majoring in Marine Biology, has received the award in honour of the legacy of Rob Stewart, a Canadian photographer, filmmaker and conservationist best known for his documentary films Sharkwater and Sharkwater Extinction.

How a group of Dal educators has transformed the outdoors into a classroom
How a group of Dal educators has transformed the outdoors into a classroom. The Biodiversity Working Group uses a blend of nature and technology to give a unique level of learning to students of both the Dalhousie Halifax campus, as well as the Truro campus. Learning from the green areas on campus, students study native plants and insects with a community-driven biodiversity app. The group has long term hopes to spur wider interest among students in the field of “urban biodiversity.”
Congratulations to Heike and Erin
Heike Lotze was selected as a 2022 Distinguished Research Professor (formerly known as University Research Professor). The award is given for distinction in scholarship. Heike’s will give a public lecture on her research and her contributions will be recognized at the Dalhousie’s Legacy Award event in November. Congratulations Heike!
Erin Bertrand was awarded the 2022 President’s Research Excellence Award for Emerging Investigators. The award recognizes early career Faculty who have made noteworthy contributions to Dalhousie’s research culture. Erin’s contribution will also be recognized at the Dalhousie’s Legacy Award event. Congratulations Erin!
