Dalhousie appoints new Rowe School of Business director
The Faculty of Management is pleased to announce that Professor Benoit Aubert has accepted appointment to the position of director of the Rowe School of Business at Dalhousie. Aubert will assume his new role on January 1, 2018.
Aubert is currently a professor of information systems and head of the School of Information Management at Victoria Business School (Victoria University of Wellington). In the past, he held the professorship in governance and information technology at HEC Montréal and has been a faculty member at Laval University in Québec City. Benoit is a fellow of the Center for Interuniversity Research and Analysis of Organizations (CIRANO) in Montréal. He has been president and chief executive officer of CIRANO, director of research at HEC Montréal and director of the IS Research Group at HEC Montréal. He has received funding from several agencies in the past, including the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, the Fonds de Recherche du Québec – Société et culture and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada. He holds a BSc from the University of Montréal, a master’s degree from Waterloo and a PhD from HEC Montréal.
Benoit will bring to Dalhousie his stature as an award-winning scholar, a strong vision for leadership in the field of data science and a passionate commitment to public education. His research interests are outsourcing and offshoring, productivity and IT, innovation and IT and risk management. “Benoit is one of the most cited researchers in his field of work in the world,” says Dean Sylvain Charlebois. “His profile as director will help us position the Faculty of Management as a leader in analytics and digital transformation across all sectors.”
“It is an honour to join the Rowe School of Business and Dalhousie University,” says Aubert. “I am impressed by the strong level of engagement in the university community. As director, I want to build on existing research strengths to create strong capability platforms and bridge traditional disciplinary boundaries. I hope this can be the foundation of our research and engagement activities. The Faculty of Management provides a perfect setting for this interdisciplinary work, which is greatly needed today. The Rowe School of Business already offers an exceptional student experience, and we will continue to innovate relentlessly to ensure the School stays at the forefront of business education.”
