A team of four Bachelor of Commerce Co-op students from Dalhousie's Rowe School of Business has finished third overall at the 32nd annual Logistics Case Competition hosted by the Denver Transportation Club in Colorado. The team has been given additional recognition by the event organizers who have asked the students to share their recommendations with the real-world subject of the case, the International Medical Corps.

The case competition is part of an annual conference, Operation Stimulus, that brings together transportation and logistics professionals, academics and students. In addition to the opportunity to distinguish themselves in a field of leading business schools, the Dalhousie team members were able to attend a conference and hear presentations by, network with and interview with business leaders from companies such as CSX Railroad, the Nestlé Purina group, BNSF Railway, Crane Worldwide Logistics and Transplace, among others.

At the event, Team Rowe met, competed and networked with students from 18 U.S. and Canadian schools. These included Michigan State University (ranked number one in logistics and supply chain), Penn State University, Colorado State University, University of North Texas and University of Manitoba. Most of these schools have a logistics and supply chain major with 100 to 200 students enrolled in that major, and numerous courses to take. At the moment, the Rowe School of Business has one logistics course and a transportation course available.

“I think it’s important to note that our students competed against schools like Penn State University, Michigan State University, Syracuse and many other American universities that have extremely large logistics programs. They did Dalhousie University proud,” said Dan Lynch, Director, Centre for International Trade and Transportation and team coach. All four of the students are current or past students in Dr. Lynch’s logistics class. “I've been attending this conference for over 10 years both from Michigan State University (my former employer) and Dalhousie University and I'm very proud of our students. Congratulations!”
