Name: Faith Abel-Adegbite
Pronouns: She/Her
Program/Degree: Master of Science in Occupational Therapy
Hometown: Fredericton, New Brunswick

What inspired you to choose your field of study?

I’ve always been drawn to helping people regain their independence and improve their quality of life. Occupational therapy stood out to me because it focuses on what truly matters to each person—their ability to do the everyday things that give life meaning.

What was a moment at Dal that you’ll never forget?

I’ll never forget the sense of connection and pride during my first placement, when I realized how much of what we learned in class came to life in real clinical settings. Seeing clients make progress, even in small ways, reminded me why I chose this profession.

Who supported you along the way and how?

My family, classmates, and professors have been my biggest support system. Their encouragement, especially during stressful times, helped me stay grounded and motivated.

Is there a course/research topic/placement or project that really impacted you?

My placement at Lifemark Physiotherapy Clinic had a big huge impact—it showed me the value of teamwork and how occupational therapists play an important role in multidisciplinary care, especially with veterans.

What does graduating mean to you?

Graduating means more than finishing a program—it represents growth, resilience, and the start of a career built on compassion and purpose.

What is next for you?

Next, I plan to continue gaining experience in clinical practice. My goal is to combine my OT background with the broader healthcare knowledge to make a meaningful difference.
