Undergraduate Teaching, Mentoring and Employment

We are a service department for Dalhousie undergraduates, teaching core math and programming courses to hundreds of students that are part of the Engineering undergraduate programs. Our professors and instructors regularly receive awards for their teaching.

Although no undergraduate degree is offered in Engineering Mathematics, we offer undergraduate research opportunities, which are supported by the National Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Undergraduate Student Research Awards and Co‐op programs etc, which can be contacted from our contact page. These opportunities include summer, coop and honours theses work terms. Meet some of our undergraduate researchers here

We also provide dozens of job opportunities each term that are related to grading our course's tests and assignments. Please contact the department for more information.

Graduate Training

We mentor graduate students from around the world. Their thesis research involves applied math projects of high relevance to society. We serve on thesis committees for students across the university and other institutions within Canada and internationally. Our recent graduates are now employed in industry, academia and government, in the Halifax area and beyond.
