Welcome to SOSA Postdoctoral Fellow Tiffany Gordon

Posted by SOSA Web Team on June 27, 2025 in News

Congratulations to Dr. Tiffany Gordon, who will be taking up a one-year postdoctoral fellowship in SOSA on July 15, supervised by Dr. Chris Giacomantonio, Director of the Clairmont Centre for Community Safety Research. Dr. Gordon’s project is called “Race and Representation in Nova Scotia’s Criminal Justice System: Analyzing the Experiences of People of African Descent in the Province’s Courts and Correctional Facilities.” This project will address two main problems: Gaps in knowledge about Black people’s experiences in provincial correctional facilities, and the need to improve correctional practices in Nova Scotia. Alongside filling important gaps in race-based data, it will also contribute to improvements in correctional practices in the province by engaging with formerly incarcerated individuals to understand their experiences and needs while incarcerated, and their reintegration needs once they have left prison. Dr. Gordon’s fellowship will be housed in the Clairmont Centre, and will be completed in partnership with the African Nova Scotian Justice Institute with funding from MITACS.
