Dr. Sheena Bernett is a transdisciplinary performing and creative arts researcher, practitioner, educator, coach, and scholar whose work explores and develops methods that foreground multiplicity and more-than-human modes of co-creation.

She served as Assistant Professor of Theatre at Acadia University from 2023–2025 and completed her research-creation PhD in the Individualized Program in Fine Arts at Concordia University. Her dissertation, Composing with the Event—Performance Practices that Move Toward Neurodiverse Perception/Sensation, received the 2023 Governor General’s Gold Medal Award.

She holds an MA in Musical Theatre Performance from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and a BFA in Music Composition and Classical Voice from Concordia University, with additional training from the American Musical & Dramatic Academy in New York and The National Ballet School of Canada.

As a multidisciplinary creator, performer, and educator, she explores performance as a site for transdisciplinary composition and trans-sensory inquiry through voice/singing, acting, movement/dance, composition, devised theatre, collective-creation, and research-creation. Her original work has premiered internationally, including at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and TEDxGlasgow.
